November Spotlight

Palliative Care

Palliative care is a specialized field of medicine. Palliative care consists of a team of doctors and nurses who address all aspects of pain—physical, psychological, relational, social, spiritual, and religious. (National Institute of Health). Palliative care and hospice are not interchangeable terms. Both palliative care and hospice care provide comfort. But palliative care can begin at diagnosis, and at the same time as treatment. Hospice care begins after treatment of the disease is stopped and when it is clear that the person is not going to survive the illness.(MedLine Plus)
