SUMMARY

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and optimizing Microsoft-based infrastructure, with a primary focus on Azure cloud services, automation, and scripting. This role leads the deployment and maintenance of Windows environments, leveraging tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Terraform to automate and streamline operations. The ideal candidate will support DevOps and infrastructure-as-code initiatives, collaborate cross-functionally on cloud strategies and system upgrades, and lead complex troubleshooting efforts. A key focus of the role is driving operational efficiency, scalability, and resilience through modern automation and infrastructure management practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Automate routine system administration tasks using scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Azure CLI, VS Code)
  • Manage virtualization and cloud environments (Azure, Tanium, VMware).
    Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for complex issues
  • Automate tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
  • Implement system upgrades, patches, and backups.
  • Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (Windows and Linux).
  • Manage servers, including application, database, web and cloud servers.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot system problems, diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
  • Support and mentor intermediate level system administrators and IT staff.
  • Create and maintain scripts for system maintenance and development.
    Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures and
    processes.
  • Lead IT Infrastructure projects (e.g. system migrations, upgrades).
    Coordinate with cross-functional teams for project implementations.

How You’ll Be Successful:

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years' experience in developing information processing solutions - Required
  • At least 3 years' experience in designated operating systems/application administration - Required
  • At least 1-year personnel or project management experience - Required

EDUCATION

  • Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - required
  • Roles supporting specific software must demonstrate competency in the software used in their role. All training and testing applicable to the role must be successfully completed and passed within 180 days of employment. Continuing education requirements must be completed and maintained for applications applicable to the role.
